2009 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac
Worth over £300
Near opaque in the glass, the aromas exude berry fruit. Full and ripe, with a floral lift, this is deceptively dense. Expansive, soft-textured and with well-veiled fine, sweet tannins, which add a silky refinement to an already complex character offering notes of graphite and cedar. This carries its weight well, leading to a dry, savoury, long finish. Very impressive.
