We have tried to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the Fine Wine Plan below. However, if you have a question that we have not covered, please give us a call on 0845 330 1855 or email us at sales@laywheeler.com and we will do our best to help.
To join the Fine Wine Plan simply complete the application form, and indicate your main wine preferences, likes and dislikes, providing your personal consultant with a starting point. Then complete the Direct Debit mandate (pdf), post or email it to us, and we will do the rest.
This is entirely up to you. The more you 'invest', the faster your collection will grow or the higher the value of the wines purchased. If you use the Fine Wine Plan mainly for investment purposes, we recommend a level of at least £300 per month. The minimum subscription is £100. Your funds are devoted entirely to wine purchase and wine storage.
Spread the cost of building a cellar by paying by monthly direct debit, which is convenient, flexible and secure, and via the Direct Debit Guarantee you retain control at all times. Members living abroad may pay monthly by credit card.
Top-up payments can be made at any time. Please talk to your wine consultant if you would like to do this. Many Fine Wine Plan members also choose to kick-start their cellar with a one-off payment to allow for a larger initial wine purchase, either in value or quantity terms.
You will be kept informed of the recommended drink dates of your wines via your Annual Stock Certificate and online; your wine consultant can also provide advice on which wines should be withdrawn. Withdrawals can be done via our secure online service or by placing a request with your consultant.
Once a login ID and Password have been set up for you, you will be able to log straight into your account and peruse your Portfolio. You can manage your account details, keep track of orders and view the wines in your cellar and their drink dates. You can also withdraw your drinking wines for delivery.
Each account is individually tailored to suit your needs. Your allocated consultant will have as much or as little contact with you as you require. Some Plan members prefer to manage their own cellars and use their consultant for purchasing only, whilst others prefer to be kept in the picture at all times and gain from the knowledge and advice their consultant can offer.
The Plan is not solely limited to UK-based clients, with many members based abroad building a cellar of fine wine with Lay & Wheeler for eventual shipment to their home country, or to enjoy when they return to the UK.
