 | Now showing its true class. Intense in appearance and equally so on the palate where there is a substantial weight of deep berry fruit. Cedary nuances are building too and there is a lovely sense of freshness coupled with distinguished purity. 2002 continues Léoville-Barton’s rich form over the last decade. | The second wine of Château Montrose, this shows superb quality. As with the grand vin there is a delicious breadth of ripe blackcurrant and cherry fruit here. Round and juicy with supple tannins and a long, stylish finish, this represents excellent value and will be relatively early drinking. Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon

 | Lay & Wheeler has purchased from this property for upwards of 20 years and there is absolutely no question in our view that Olivier Sèze is one of the star performers amongst cru bourgeois producers. Year in, year out, Olivier produces an honest bordeaux that is full of character and brings cheer to consumers who wish to purchase quality at a modest price. Again in 2006, Charmail is a wine that should be on everyone’s shopping list. The nose of 2006 Charmail is vibrant and pure with fresh, curranty fruit in the ascendant. The palate is natural and unforced with an appealing vibrancy. The component parts are 45% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and the remainder Petit Verdot. All in all a most attractive bordeaux. Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon

 | "Guffens Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanee is a winemaking tour de force. Its refined and feminine nose reveals an unreal depth of candied red berries and an awesome purity. On the palate, layer upon layer of flowers, liquid minerals, anise, sweet citrus fruits, and oak spices can be found in this full-bodied, oily-textured, complex, and profound offering. After literally a minute, I still could feel and taste this wine's presence in my mouth. Wow!" 94-97 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Chardonnay 100%

 | "Referring to his hugely powerful and super-ripe, yet highly acidic Meursault Charmes Vieilles Vignes, Guffens said, "like with an Ingemar Bergman film, you must like its style to like it." It offers a tightly wound, yet deeply rich nose of minerals and vanilla-like scents, followed by an intense, racy, thick, and full-bodied character. Unending layers of liquid minerals and almond paste streak across the palate of this immensely rich, well-delineated wine. Harvested at over 14% natural potential alcohol and possessing more than 5 grams of acidity per liter, it achieves nearly perfect balance - rare for such an extreme style of wine." 94-97 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Chardonnay 100%

 | "Guffens' Chablis offerings continue to enthrall me. What do you have when you combine superb richness, exquisite ripeness, and enough acidity to bore through the Sixth Fleet? Verget's 1996 Chablis Fourchaume. Malty vanilla scents are followed by a super-ripe, rich, medium-bodied, concentrated, and sharply acidic character. Highly focused flavors of crisp red berries, spicy oak, lemons, and steel are found in this teeth-clenchingly bright offering. As I tasted this bracing Fourchaume I remembered a comment Guffens once made to me, "the best way to de-acidify a wine is to make it richer."" 90 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Chardonnay 100%

 | This wine instantly shows the class one would expect from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The nose is enticing and lively, with aromatics of ripe red fruit rising from the glass as it is poured. The palate is of vibrant sweet cherry and plum fruit alongside notes of black coffee and leathery spice. The tannins here are so well balanced by the weight of the wine as to be almost unnoticeable. With its spicy character and berry-fruit, this can be matched with the Christmas bird, or with pork and lamb.

 | Grenache was the star of the 2000 vintage, creating a velvety Vieux-Télégraphe. Terrific warmth and ripeness on the nose evokes thoughts of languid summer days lying out in the hot sun. This leads on to a display of red and black fruits, spice, leather and warm earth on the palate. The impressive finish has soft tannins and reveals an underlying structure hidden by the hedonistic, mouthfilling mid-palate. There is easily another 10 years lifespan to this wine, but the freshness and ripe tannin make it one that will give tremendous satisfaction in its youth.

 | Made from a small parcel of vines within the Grand Cru of Sommerberg, the vines that contribute to this wine ripen ten days later than those in the main part of the vineyard. | A blend of fruit from fourteen different vineyards. It has a medium ruby colour and an opulent scent of ripe red fruits and musk roses, balanced by a dusky note of tobacco leaf and spice. The palate has a concentrated core of very ripe black and red fruit with powerful tannins which are ripe, elegant and beautifully integrated. Shows wonderful balance: a seamless wine with all the tell-tale Gaja hallmarks and, exploiting the heat of the vintage, Gaja has produced another flawless barbaresco.

 | Stock drawn directly from the cellars of Castillo Ygay outside the bustling town of Logroño. Not really a museum piece, but a current listing at a Bodega which is renowned for the long cask ageing accorded to its best wines in 'historic vintages'. 1970 is one such year, and the wine was bottled as recently as 1998. Only 8,000 bottles were made. The wine offers an intense luxurious perfume, a smooth and harmonious complexity. An exciting wine with attack and a long, mellow finish. Unique and compelling. Serve at a moderate room temperature.

 | A floral quality to the aroma here – unmistakable ripe, fresh peach too. The palate is intense, ripe and rounded with exotic nuances to the fruit. Tangy lemon and a dried apricot sweetness are equally discernible. | A wine with a stunning nose of violets and black fruits and seemingly endless layers of complex, concentrated, yet vibrant fruit on the palate. A real powerhouse although simultaneously a port with poise and class that will assuredly develop into a wine of exemplary quality. This has a great future ahead of it. | Deep purple, almost black, in appearance. Ribeira displays great fruit intensity with a swathe of luscious, ripe, black fruits coated with mocha on both the nose and palate. A port with seamless structure and generous flowing flavours. Blend of different grape varieties

 | Now beginning to show the first complex flushes of maturity, this is a wonderful glass of classic californian cabernet sauvignon. Rich and succulent in the mouth with sweet cassis, red plum and cedar notes interwoven with mocha, coffee, herb and granite nuances. This is full bodied but beautifully crafted with suave, integrated tannins and a burst of freshness on the long, expansive finish.
